How do I choose the best products and installer?

At HahaSmart, we encourage every solar shopper to compare multiple solar product combinations and installation options through our website or app. We will connect you to installers in your area, giving you the opportunity to compare services and weigh your options. We encourage our customers to take the time to understand the trade-offs and differences between each option, and do not hesitate to ask questions.

Can I build or install the system myself?

You may run into DIY information on the web about building your own solar panels, which we do not recommend. Leave that to the manufacturers who follow strict safety standards. If you are a handyman with enough skills to design, size and install a residential solar system, then technically you can install the system yourself. However, we generally recommend hiring a certified professional, especially to do the wiring and metering.

At what angle should my solar panels be positioned?

Try using a volt meter on the panel on a fairly bright day to see what is best for your location, but generally, an angle of 35 - 45 degrees will be suitable.

Do solar panels require maintenance?

Fortunately, solar panels are considered low maintenance. Since there are no moving parts, the only maintenance required is brushing off debris and dirt a few times a year, and an occasional surface cleaning with a damp sponge or cloth. Though we generally don’t like rainy days, as they cause the panels to collect less power, you might consider a few days of rain to be a blessing in disguise.  Free cleaning? Haha! I’ll take it!
