Summary

In September 2012, the City of El Paso adopted the Alternative Energy Conservation Code for residential and commercial buildings based on the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). (The energy conservation code of the City is the 2009 IECC.)

El Paso offers several incentives for projects meeting the Alternative Energy Conservation Code. First, all approved applicants receive expedited plan review. Second, approved applicants receive a reduction in the master permit fee associated with the project for 50% for the first 100 approved projects and 20% for the next 100 approved projects. Finally, approved applicants receive advanced notice of stakeholder meetings prior to the mandatory adoption of a future Energy Conservation Code by El Paso.
