In 2009, the Commissioners Court of Harris County approved a policy that requires all new county buildings be designed and constructed to the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) minimum certification standards.
The Harris County Facilities and Property Management (FPM) Division also requires all county buildings to meet minimum energy efficiency and sustainability measures, as described in the Best Green Practices Document.
