Miami-Dade County outlines its guidelines for rooftop solar systems in its application. This document highlights that Miami-Dade County is in a high velocity hurricane zone (HVHZ) and may require specific steps to be followed in order to gain a solar system permit.
A roof plan including the solar system is necessary for the application. The system can either be photovoltaic or solar thermal. Along with the roof plan, structural drawings and electrical diagrams are needed for the completion of the application. More information can be found in the application and the electronic solar permit form.
