he 1,000 MW »Kurnool Solar Park« in Andhra Pradesh will be commissioned on July 13, according to state owned Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Private Limited (APSPCL). Prayatna Developers, an Adani subsidiary, has commissioned 30 MW out of awarded 50 MW capacity on June 28, and will commission the remaining 20 MW by July 13. According to consultancy Mercom Capital Group, 980 MW is already grid-synchronized. The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) had provided Adani time until the end of July to complete the project.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) had conducted the first e-reverse auction for the Kurnool Park and Sunedison (now Greenko) won the bid to develop 500 MW in November 2015 by quoting INR 4.63 ($0.071) per kWh. The other winners were SBG Cleantech (350 MW), Azure Power (100 MW) and Adani (50 MW). The Azure and Adani bids were under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) category.

»This will be the largest solar park in the world for a long time as most GW-scale projects globally are under development or in the initial stages of tendering,« stated Mercom.
