The SEIA released its list of the top solar companies of 2018, with Apple and Target taking the lead for off and on-site solar panel installations. Amazon, a top-3 solar energy adopter on the list, recently announced a new solar farm in Virginia.
First Solar announced that its sun streams 2 solar power plant will power new Microsoft data centers in Arizona. While not in the top 10 for solar, preferring to invest in wind power, Microsoft is still aiming to add solar power to its portfolio, with nearly 500 megawatts of future solar energy projects procured.
Analysts cite growing corporate activity as a staple for secure and stable growth for First Solar in the future, despite its current quarter loses. Agreements for a Facebook data center and Kellogg’s facility in Australia preceded its Microsoft deal, demonstrating a strong uptick incorporate solar panel installations.
We expect corporations will continue to boost the solar energy market in the future as climate goals grow and the cost of solar panel installation falls, allowing companies to build bigger commercial solar-powered systems.
