Tremont Citizens May Save Big On Energy With A Solar Panel Farm
Next week, voters of Tremont, Maine are assembling to decide if their own will allow a community solar panel system to be built in a closed landfill.
The solar panel system will include as many as 500 installed solar panels intended to bring costs down for local energy users. The average energy consumption of Tremont is paying between 17 and 18 cents per kilowatt-hour. After these panels would be added to the grid, the inhabitants would instead pay 12.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. This change racks up to a savings of about 28 percent.
