The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), an Indian government energy agency, has increased the capacity of the recently tendered floating solar PV projects in the state of Uttar Pradesh from 100 MW (two projects of 50 MW each) to 150 MW (three projects of 50 MW each).
The solar projects will be developed on the Rihand Dam, located in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. SECI has fixed INR 3.50 ($0.0533) per kWh as the upper tariff ceiling for this tender. The successful developers will enter 25-year PPAs with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). A single bidder can bid for a minimum of 50 MW and a maximum of 150 MW.
As reported in December 2017, SECI has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from prospective project developers to set up 10 GW of floating solar PV (FSPV) projects of different sizes in a phased manner within the next three years.
