The first solar plant in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, standing at 10MW capacity, has been launched in Qeshm Island, in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Iran, according to the country's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organisation (SATBA).
Iran’s Minister of Energy has also said that, at present, the country’s installed renewable power capacity is 527MW and it will have reached 1GW as of the end of March this year. He added that the plan is to increase the capacity of these power plants to 4GW by the end of the 12th government (2021).
An opening ceremony for a 20kW rooftop solar power plant was also held at the Army Retirees Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Last July, Iran’s state news portal IRNA said that an unnamed Italian company planned to build a 100MW solar plant in Hormozgan Province.
