A consortium involving Malaysia-based developer Cypark Renewable Energy and Revenue Vantage has won a 43.18MW (30MWac) solar PV project in Malaysia from the Energy Commission (EC).
The project, won via competitive bidding process, will be located at Empangan Terip, Negeri Sembilan, according to a filing on Bursa Malaysia.
The consortium including the wholly-owned subsidiary of Cypark Resources Berhad (CRB) is required to fulfill the conditions as set out in the Letter of Acceptance of Offer prior to the EC issuing the formal Letter of Award for the Project.
Achmat Nadhrain bin Ibrahim, General Manager at CRB, told PV Tech: “From perspective of industry government should encourage more tenders so the rollout is faster. Based on the recent published list of those companies who participated in the recent tender it can be seen that the tariff is more competitive that before.”
Under previous SEDA feed-in tariff (FiT) programme Cypark built a 13MW solar plant, which is the largest Malaysia, according to Ibrahim.
Last week, Malaysia utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) also received a Letter of Acceptance of Offer from the Energy Commission (EC) to develop a 45MW (30MWac) solar PV project at Bukit Selambau, Kedah.
