Belectric Israel Ltd., subsidiary of German project developer Belectric GmbH, inaugurated the 30 MW »Ashalim« PV plant located in the Israeli Negev Desert. Belectric has built the plant as EPC (Engineering-Procurement-Construction) provider on behalf of EDF EN Israel Ltd. and the Israeli renewable energy project developer Clal Sun Ltd. According to the company, the PV plant was connected to the grid in December 2017 ahead of schedule.
The facility is part of a utility-scale solar project combining solar thermal and photovoltaic energy. Upon full completion, the renewable power station will provide 250 Megawatt of electricity – around two percent of Israel’s power consumption.
Since 2013 Belectric has realized 17 solar projects in Israel with a total capacity of around 200 MW. This year Belectric is building a PV plant with a capacity of 120 MW near the Kibbutz of Zeélim in corporation with Solel Boneh. Commissioning of this plant is anticipated in 2019.
