Asunim, an Ankara-based company and member of the Asunim group, has completed construction of an unlicensed 40.3 MW solar park in Manisa, in Turkey’s western Aegean Region.
The facility consists of two sites that were built in parallel and have a capacity of 19.7 MW and 20.6 MW, respectively. The company stressed that the sites have different slopes, and that this required several different studies and calculations in order to obtain the highest yield.
The two facilities were built using Jinko Solar high-efficiency (PID free) solar modules and REFUsol 40K string inverters. Their yearly output is expected to be around 56 GWh.
Construction on the solar park began in late April. It is located in the province of Izmir, an area of Turkey renowned for its high solar irradiation levels and stable grid conditions.
The solar park is unlicensed as it is likely composed of sub-units not exceeding 1 MW in size. The current Turkish regulation, in fact, only allows the building of solar plants up to 1 MW without a government license .
Turkey had reached 1.5 GW of installed PV power as of the end of June 2017. Of this capacity, 1,491.7 MW is represented by unlicensed PV plants.
