The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) of India has provided an update of its solar progress, revealing that it now has 845 MW of installed capacity across India.
This figure was boosted by the recent addition of 225 MW, which is the total commissioned at the Mandsaur Solar Power Project – a 250 MW solar farm located in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The state-run power developer will only be able to commission the remaining 25 MW once evacuation constraints pertaining to the solar park developer Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited are overcome, Mercom Capital Group reported.
Other developers active at the Mandsour Solar Park include Vikram Solar, BHEL and Tata Power, each of which has developed 50 MW tranches at the site.
Mumbai looks to PV
Mumbai is poised to add 1 MW of rooftop solar to its railway network following the tendering of that amount of capacity by Central Railways.
With a bid submission deadline of July 3, the tender aims to attract EPCs able to install, operate and maintain a rooftop array for 25 years. The estimated cost of the project is INR 80 million ($1.24 million), with Central Railways poised to sign a 25-year PPA with the successful bidder.
The Dehli Metro has already embraced solar PV, and is poised to boast 14 MW of capacity once the current project being developed by Azure Power is complete.
