The company’s panels will be used in 128 installations spread throughout low-income rural communities in Zhangbei county, Hebei province. Each array will have a capacity of 300 kW. Once the projects are operational, more than 10,000 villagers throughout the county will be able to derive revenue from the sale of electricity over the next 20 years.

Yingli Solar will supply 140,000 panels, including 10,000 higher-end modules such as its Panda Bifacial panels, as well as multicrystalline 12-busbar panels and multicrystalline black silicon panels. The installations will also feature axis tracking systems to increase power generation. All of the small arrays will be connected to the grid in the fourth quarter of this year.

“The project is of great significance to local poverty alleviation and environment protection,” said Bo Yu, vice general manager of Yingli Solar. “Yingli Solar panels can maximally guarantee the sustainable and stable power generation of the project, effectively increasing the income of local low-income villagers from green solar electricity sales.”

Yingli Solar reported a net loss of $43.9 million in the second quarter, on roughly 1.15 GW of PV module shipments. It expects shipments to range from 550 MW and 600 MW in the \quarter to the end of September.
