Distributed solar firm Fourth Partner Energy is to build roughly 10MW of rooftop solar PV projects for Indian Railways at Varanasi, Jabalpur and Gorakhpur, in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Saif Dhorajiwala, founder partner and executive director of Fourth Partner, said: “As a full services player with complete in-house capabilities, Fourth Partner Energy is ideally positioned in this high potential market to continue its growth momentum. It has partnered with several large marquee customers.”

The company has installed more than 50MW of solar to date, with orders for another 50MW pending. Fourth Partner also plans to hit 1GW of distributed solar assets by 2022.

Solar tenders relating to Indian Railways have been issued recently, meanwhile former energy minister PIyush Goyal has become minister for railways and coal, which many see as a tougher job.
