Consulting and EPC firm Pöyry has been awarded a contract for EPC services on a 30MW(AC) solar PV plant in Bahia, Brazil by an unnamed developer.
The firm will carry out engineering, design review, construction and assembly supervision, commissioning supervision, financial monitoring, contract administration and Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) supervision services.
Construction started in July this year, energy generation is expected for January 2018.
The plant has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that was awarded in Brazil’s August 2015 reserve energy auction conducted by energy agency ANEEL.
"This assignment is further recognition of Pöyry's vast experience and best practices in the implementation of large projects, including in the area of power generation," said Nilson Niero, Pöyry's director of consulting, energy, infra and special projects for Latin America.
ANEEL recently cancelled nine solar projects totalling 249.7MW of capacity and 16 wind farms with a combined capacity of 307.7MW in its first ever de-contraction auction.
