China’s JinkoSolar, a Tier-1, vertically integrated solar company, has revealed today its involvement in a 35.46 MW solar plant in Mexico that began commercial operation on April 6.

Located in Camargo in Mexico’s Chihuahua State, the large-scale solar farm was developed by renewable energy construction specialist Gransolar, which opted for JinkoSolar’s high efficiency solar modules for the project.

JinkoSolar is the world’s leading solar module company in terms of shipments, and has begun expanding its presence in many of the world’s emerging solar markets – particularly those in Latin America. The Mexican solar market is pf particular interest for JinkoSolar, with company VP of global sales and marketing Gener Miao expressing his excitement at having worked with Gransolar in the country.

The 35.46 MW solar plant was built by Gransolar for its client, Balam Fund, which had earlier acquired the development rights for the project for $45 million from Spain’s Avant Energías Renovables.

In July, Gransolar began operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at the solar plant, which is one of the largest single-site installations in Mexico, and augments the country’s cumulative installed PV capacity, which at the end of 2016 stood at 389 MW according to official government data.
