The space savers: floating solar system 

Since 2011, French Company Ciel & Terre created large-scale floating solar solutions. It’s called the  Hydrelio Floating PV system that permits standard PV panels to be installed on large bodies of water such as: drinking water reservoirs, quarry lakes, irrigation canals, remediation and tailing ponds, and hydro electric  dam reservoirs. The solution is an economical and simple substitute to ground-mounted systems especially for water-intensive industries that must save land and/or water space. 

The main float is constructed of high-density thermoplastic (HDPE) and set at a 12 degree angle to support a standard 60 Cell PV solar module. A secondary non-slip HDPE float links the primary floats and provide a platform for maintenance and buoyancy. The system is easy to install and dismantle,  adaptable to any electrical configuration, and scalable from low to high power generation without tools or equipment. In addition, its eco-friendly, recyclable,  low environmental impact and it’s economical.
