Sacramento Solar powered homes 

An incentive program was launched for existing homes on June 1, Sacramento’s electric utility offers rebates marketing electrification in both old and new homes.
The California solar rebates program for new solar-powered homes started last year. 700 pieces are in the pipeline underneath the agenda, stated by Owen Howlett, the project manager of energy strategy research and development at SMUD.

In the Sacramento area, it just became easier for homeowners to buy or convert to solar-powered homes.

SMUD, which assists more than 1.5 million consumers in Sacramento, is the United States 6th community-owned electric utility.

Solar powered homes will save you money immediately

SMUD determined that a family in an aged 2,700-square-foot home constructed preceding to the approval of California’s construction energy performance policies should save $280 annually by shifting from a normal gas furnace to an electric heat pump for space heating. A family in a 1,500-square-foot home that is high efficiency, built after 2001 would save $102 annually under the same gas-to-electricity conversion.

So SMUD resumed the testing but used a 20 percent electricity rate that was larger than before. Savings trimmed by about 1/2, however, consumers still came out earlier on yearly functioning costs for space heating that was stated by Howlett.

The typical local ratio of electricity for SMUD’s household customers is 13.8 cents per kilowatt-hour, marginally greater than the national average (12.89 cents/kWh) but smaller than the California average (16.08 cents/kWh), with facts provided to the latest EIA data.

Defeating the costs of solar panels

Driving expenses down for markets will come with knowledge. In the meantime, SMUD’s gas-to-electric progress rebate on solar panels are phenomenal.
