Homeowners Turn to Solar Loans, California Cuts Emissions

Recently a slew of reports and new studies in the world of solar and climate change battling poured into the world news network.  It indeed is an exciting time to be part of this solar revolution.  One report found that homeowners are increasingly switching to solar loans to bankroll rooftop solar, while different report noted California is advancing significant gains in decreasing its emissions.

In years past, the options for financing a solar system for your home have become wide-spanning and dynamic.  For example, in 2016, an astonishing 45 percent of home solar installations were bankrolled by third-party owners like Vivint Solar and Tesla’s SolarCity. Another approximately 25 percent were purchased outright, and only 16 percent were claimed through solar loans. In 2018, fully 47 percent of solar rooftops will be funded by solar loans. That’s according to GTM Research’s new statement Bringing Scale, Profitability, and Value to the Residential Solar Market.

State By State Solar Projects

California, a leader in emission and environmental regulation, is demonstrating that a strong economy and strong ecological choices go hand in hand.  After all, California is the 5th largest economy in THE WORLD.  The state has already exceeded its emissions reduction goals for 2020. The state has cut its emissions by 13 percent since they topped in 2004. They’re now under 1990 levels. All the while, the state’s economy has grown 26 percent.

New York's Cornell University has launched a leading study with Cypress Creek Renewables.  This study was created to assess the influence of solar farms, and wildflowers potentially have on bees and other pollinators. The investigation will see if solar farms can be built in such a way that they enhance local bee, butterfly, hummingbird communities. It will also appraise whether improved pollinator populations in the area will help increase crop yields for local farmers. 

Also notable is the efforts being made by electric power holding company Carolinas, Duke Energy.  This company is expanding its solar arsenal, both incentivizing rooftop solar and developing out 680 megawatts of solar projects. In North Carolina, it also will offer $62 million in solar incentives to homeowners, businesses, and nonprofits. The Duke Energy will provide these benefits on a first-come basis.'
