Save money, go green, solar air conditioning

Depending on the season, location of your home, and world global warming, the usage of air conditioning is increasingly more pronounced. With more usage comes the growing concern of  higher cost of electricity. With that being said, are the concerns of higher costs always have to be the case? And if so, can this be resolved?

Solar power is one method to ensure electricity costs are down while enjoying air conditioning for long periods of time including peak hours. I don’t think sacrificing on comfort must be compromised to save money on electricity.

The cost of air conditioning

There are various factors of how much usage of air conditioning will cost. How often the AC being used, the actual size of the product, and the rate for electricity are more of the common factors. A majority of AC products have a nameplate that shows the amount of power pulled per use. The number is in watts and is calculated by how many kilowatt hours your AC system is used on a given day. The results from this calculation will prepare you for the next steps of solar AC.

If you’re thinking of installing solar to reduce the costs of air conditioning, you must determine how much additional electricity is needed and the amount of solar panels to generate it. The amount of panels required to create a solar panel system to cover this usage depends on how much sunlight exposure the panels receive. There are multiple factors for the quantify of solar panels needed. The type of installation, the location of your home, the efficiency of the equipment, and the system design play a pivotal role.

Generally speaking, both federal and state governments support the use of solar air conditioning. Both governments provide incentive plans for solar energy users. Rates differ state by state, so its best to check with your state’s energy department to learn more about these incentive programs. There is a possibility of profit through reselling unused energy back to your state.

Solar energy is an economical way to create renewable energy for your air conditioner to use. Solar panel systems will harvest  thousands in electricity savings for over 25 years. Studies have shown that solar energy adds $20 of home value for every $1 of energy savings yearly. Solar energy panels are long term investments that add significant value to their home. This perk makes raises the value of their home in a competitive real estate market.

Examining the two types of solar AC

There are two types of solar air conditioning; hybrids and chillers. Hyrids is made by inverter techonology that captures thermal (ambient) energy. Ambient energy is the work the condenser does to be decreased under full load which greatly extends the time the compressor is cycled off. The chiller is generated by heat that’s supplied through evacuated tube collectors. These solar collector pick up thermal energy from the sun which transfers it using glycol-water solution. Discussing these choices with a solar installer maybe best to determine which is right for you. Solar panels is a great investment for your next air conditioning system financially.
