Solar panels in the northern hemisphere

Solar panels work best when they face the South, East, or West when used in the northern hemisphere.

It can be seen that in the northern hemisphere, the north end of the axis, is tilted away from the sun during the winter and that the north end of the axis is tilted toward the sun in the summer. In the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed and the tendency is for greater seasonal differences in temperature than experienced in the northern hemisphere. That is why solar panels are good in both the northern and the southern hemispheres.

The angle of the earth's tilt and solar power

The Angle of the Earth's tilt with respect to the sun and the equatorial plane is called the declination angle. This angle varies throughout the year from 23.5 degrees in the positive direction on June 21, to a negative 23.5 degrees on December 21. When the Earth's axis is perpendicular to the line joining the Earth and the sun, day and night are equal.  Those days happen on March 21 and on September 21.

Solar power works in the summer and the winter

When the sun is at it's highest, there will be the most sunlight, and when the sun is at it's lowest, there will be less sunlight. it does not matter if it's summer or winter to solar panels. they continue to work all the time. They work in the winter when it is cold, and they work in the summer when it is warm or even hot.
