Economic repercussions of solar power

Now that the price of solar panels is within reach of the average homeowner, it is time to assess the financial and employment numbers for alternative energy sources. Many people want to know what jobs are being produced in the “clean energy” business. Employment in the “clean energy” sector is increasing as more homeowners shift from fossil fuels to solar power systems. Solar and wind power jobs don’t endanger workers with toxic chemicals, explosions, oil fires, mine collapses or many other hazards. Certainly, the coal and petroleum industries don’t have good track records when it comes to preventing injuries or taking care of wounded or sick workers. Indeed, these jobs are not dead-end, low-paying, or unfulfilling positions. Experts estimate that far more new jobs will be added in the clean energy sector in the coming decades since these are the most competitive alternatives for new electricity generation capacity. It’s considered very beneficial to the American economy that hundreds of thousands work in clean energy like solar and wind power.  But in China, there are reportedly well over 2 million people working in solar power. So, it is possible for millions of people to be employed in solar power.

Air pollution will be decreased significantly with solar power

Solar energy does not produce large amounts of toxic air pollution as fossil fuels do. A huge number of premature deaths transpire around the world simply due to excessive air pollution. Tens of thousands of Americans die yearly from air pollution, generated by electric power plants that burn fossil fuels. Estimates differ, but between 7,500 and 52,000 people in the United States experience early deaths because of the emission of tiny particles resulting from power plant operations. The number of premature deaths due to air pollution worldwide is in the millions.  For some reason, climate change deniers never address the enormous human toll resulting from the burning of fossil fuels. The cost to society in terms of health problems, death, and pollution of burning coal in the US has been estimated in the hundreds of billions.

Children continue to be more vulnerable to pollution

Children are vulnerable to all forms of air pollution, and hundreds of thousands die each year globally. 570,000 children under 5 years die from respiratory infections, such as pneumonia, attributable to indoor and outdoor air pollution, and second-hand smoke.

Investing in clean energy is increasing

Investing in clean energy doesn’t simply begin to solve different environmental and public health difficulties. It also helps create new technologies that can greatly reduce the burning of fossil fuels. Of course, there are many more advantages and multiple examples of how renewable energy benefits the earth. There will also be new benefits created as renewable energy extends around the world and the technology improves.

With a few exceptions, fossil fuels dominate the power sector and will continue to do so in the near term. But solar is becoming cheaper and more efficient and many nations are seeing the wisdom of embracing solar and other renewable energy choices. Within the European Union, renewable energy had a 24.3 percent share of the total energy generated from all sources. The amount of renewable energy produced in Europe rose by 84.4 percent between 2003 and 2013. Germany remains the leader in solar power. The renewable energy sector is about evenly distributed between modern and traditional renewable sources. Modern renewables include solar, wind, hydropower, and geothermal. Common renewable energy sources include biomass, which is usually employed in rural regions of developing countries. Of the global energy market share, renewables contributed an estimated 8.2 percent while traditional renewables accounted for about 8.5 percent.
