Closer Look Into SASH

California is a leader in the solar industry. They have a lot of sunshine. In fact, it's known as the Golden State. One of the best ways to get cheap solar in the state of California comes with the Single-family Affordable Solar Homes Program (SASH), which is an incentive subsidy of the California Solar Initiative. If you live in California, the time to go solar is now.

When compared to other states in the union, California ranks top dog for capacity and quantity of solar installations. The California Solar Initiative (CSI) is part of that leading position. CSI was created to achieve instant savings for residential and commercial business owners buying panel systems. These savings were made possible for customers via San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE), and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).

California's “Go Solar California” initiative had massive energy output goal to reach approximately 1,950 megawatts (MW) of new solar production from 2007 until 2016. It has demonstrated to be a success, and in a new effort to further make it easier for the public to go solar, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) held no more than 10% of CSI’s funds to programs for low-income households. Because of these changes, the Single-family Affordable Solar Homes Program (SASH) was created and has been helpful to many Californians for some time now.

SASH Introduction

The Single-family Affordable Solar Homes Program (SASH) is an essential part of the California Solar Initiative. Designed to help low-income residents go solar by reducing the opening costs of a system, it's been proven successful already. The initial budget for the SASH plan was $108.34 million. In 2015, the CPUC decided to add onto that with a combined $54 million. The program is set to remain until 2021 or until it runs its dollar stream dry.

You were looking to get into solar and buy your first solar system, the SASH initiative could help. Also notable is that the payback period usually lands around the six-year mark for many Californians seeks installations. The SASH rebate can shorten this and make it very doable all Californians.

Requirements For Qualifying For SASH:

The solar system can only be installed on your primary place of residence.

You must currently be a customer of PG&E, SCE, or SDG&E

Your house must be designated as “affordable housing,” according to California Public Utilities (P.U. Code 2852)
