Should you buy wholesale solar panels?

Many people prefer buying in bulk over buying just one or two items at a time, because usually, buying in bulk means huge savings. This is especially beneficial for people like business owners, who need a lot of a certain item at once. However, when it comes to solar, usually it’s not the best idea to buy in bulk. This is because you won’t be able to get anything like that from an actual manufacturer, but you will be able to get it from a reseller. Read this blog to find out if buying solar panels in bulk is right for you.

What does it mean to buy from a reseller?

When it comes to buying wholesale solar from a reseller, that means you’ll be buying it from an individual or company who bought them first and wants to resell them to make money. This usually means savings, but it also often means you won’t be totally sure what you’re getting.

Resellers often sell outdated panels.

One factor you should keep in mind is that resellers often sell panels that are outdated, which is also why they sell their panels for such a cheap price. While it might have been top of the line when they bought it, that doesn’t mean it is anymore. They’ll still probably work, but they’ll probably also have a lower efficiency and therefore not be as useful. You should look up the specs of any of these older panels to make sure they’re actually going to be useful to you before you invest in them.

Just because they’re wholesale doesn’t mean they’re cheap.

The main reason, (besides needing a lot at once) you’re probably looking at wholesale solar panels is because of the savings. However, just because they’re wholesale doesn’t necessarily mean they’re actually cheap. Many companies will use words like “wholesale” and “discount” in order to trick you into thinking you’re getting in deal even if you might not be. They aren’t the manufacturer, so they’ll be able to easily trick you into thinking you’re actually getting a deal, even if you aren’t. After all, if a reseller bought these in bulk, they’ll need to make their money back somehow. Which means they’re probably actually marking up their panels to make a profit.

When to buy solar panels wholesale.

So, is there any situation in which buying solar panels wholesale is actually a good idea? Well, if you’re doing a DIY solar system, it would be a great way to get cheaper equipment. After all, if you’re doing DIY, you probably won’t be quite as worried about the efficiency of the panels, and they’ll be able to help your project even if they won’t be top of the line.

Another situation is if you’re an installer who’s trying to get into the solar industry but still needs to learn the in’s and out’s of a solar system. You can buy cheap panels in bulk to learn how to work with them without spending a fortune. And if you mess one up, it won’t be as big of a deal.
