How Can Solar Energy Power My Life?
While you may know that solar power is a way of harnessing the sun to bring solar energy into your life, you may not totally realize just how much it can do just that. Solar energy can power up your lifestyle in more ways than you realize and is able to power up every aspect of your lifestyle, even in ways you might not have considered. Keep reading this blog to see the multitude of ways you can harness solar energy to bring power into every aspect of your life, all the way down to your cooking equipment.
Powering Your Ventilation
From the fans in your bathroom to the fans in your living room, fans are everywhere in your home. They ventilate your bathrooms, move air away from your stove, and cool off your living room in the hot summer months. Think about how much money you’d save if you were using the sun to power all of those fans instead of traditional energy.
Keep Your Swimming Pool Warm
It’s always frustrating when you go into the pool in the dead of summer and find that the water is much too cold to get in and enjoy. With the blistering sun outside the pool and the freezing cold inside the pool, wouldn’t it be great if there was the perfect medium? By heating your pool, there can be. Using solar panels to warm up your pool will save you so much money that you probably won’t even second guess it. Using traditional energy to heat your pool is extremely expensive, but with solar heating, it doesn’t have to be.
Keep Your Shower Warm
Another thing you’re probably spending a massive amount of money on with traditional energy is your water heating system. You use hot water all the time - to shower, to bathe, to wash your laundry, to wash your hands. Using so much hot water is definitely straining your wallet, so by going the solar route, you’ll be saving a ton of money.
Passive Heating
You can even passively heat your home. This is how people have been using solar energy for hundreds of years, all the way back to Aztec civilizations. You do this by creating a room with large windows to get the maximum amount of sunlight on the south side. Then, on the other side, creating a room with a lot of shade to retain the heat.
Battery Powered Homes
Another great thing about solar energy is being able to store it in batteries. Not only is this how you keep everything running at night, but it’s also how you’ll be able to keep your lights on during a blackout or severe weather conditions. When the rest of the neighborhood goes dark, you’ll be able to keep everything running.
Cooking with Solar
Believe it or not, you can even cook with solar power outside. Things like solar powered box ovens allow you to take your oven on the go and heat up your food with the power of the sun.
Lighting the Way
What we use perhaps more than anything else: lighting. From the indoor lights that keep your rooms bright at night to the outdoor lights that lead you down your walkway and into the safety of your home. The cool thing about outdoor lighting is you can get the energy for those directly from the sun by buying ones that use batteries. These batteries will store energy from the light during the day and then use that to keep themselves lit up at night.
