What if we were to issue grades for mankind's caretaking of the planet? Would we get a passing grade on any part of our handling of the environment? I don't know how we could. The seas, the air, and the ground are all polluted and man is the main cause of it all. The combustion of fossil fuels makes us polluters on an alarming scale. Global warming is something we read about nearly every day in news reports. This summer, many climate-related events have caused tremendous concern around the world. Japan is experiencing the hottest temperatures since weather measurements began. California is seeing much larger and more dangerous wildfires than ever before and the fire season has only begun. Europe and Canada are seeing heat-related deaths on a frightening scale. Is man to blame for this pollution? The answer is clearly yes according to climate scientists. Can man do anything to reverse this process? The answer to that is also yes. Fortunately, the development of more efficient and cost-effective solar panels is making renewable energy a very real possibility for millions of people to generate their own electricity. Due to technological innovations in solar, there are many ways to employ solar power in our daily lives. The energy is free, it’s easily accessible, and generating it is free from greenhouse gas emissions. Considering all the huge benefits, it is surprising that solar energy is not more widely accepted. Advances in technology mean that it’s not as complex to manufacture solar panels, which makes them cheaper, and today’s solar panels can absorb more energy with a smaller surface area. Today, technology has arrived that makes clear solar panels, which will be used on office buildings to generate large amounts of clean energy.

Take advantage of solar advances as soon as possible

Outdoor lighting: Many homeowners leave electric path lights on all night to light their walkways for safety reasons. This uses electricity, but if they’re solar-powered, you won’t have to be concerned about whether they’re turned off each night. Because there are no wires, solar-powered path and accent lights are fairly easy to install. Some companies offer strands of solar-powered string lights to decorate your yard or porch, so you can enjoy the lights without feeling bad about using electricity from fossil fuel sources.

Chargers: Chargers for phones and other devices are a substantial source of vampire energy. Place your charging station by a sunny window and use solar chargers to save energy. Also consider fresh inventions seen in other countries, such as solar sockets that stick onto a window or a magazine that does double duty as a charging station.

Solar toys: Children are very impressionable and they love gadgets of all varieties. Get your children interested in renewable energy at an early age with the wide range of solar powered toys on the market. They’re as simple as solar beads that change color when exposed to sunlight or as elaborate as solar-powered robots. It’s a new way to educate kids about the power of the sun. Once they grow into adulthood, they’ll understand the importance of renewable energy and hopefully their generation will find more ways to employ solar energy.

Cars with solar features

Some cars already use solar technology. People enjoy parking their car in the hot sun if their car has a solar roof, like some Prius models. The solar roof panels on this car power a fan that keeps the air circulating inside the car, lowering the interior temperature while parked.
