Pollution is a serious problem in nearly all the world’s urban areas. But the problem doesn't stop there. Climate scientists have determined that the volatile weather patterns we're seeing are the result of man-made pollution. The momentum toward clean energy should have been taken seriously in the 1970's when Jimmy Carter and other prominent people suggested the world needed big changes in energy policy. Now the United States has a president who has appointed climate deniers to his cabinet who have connections in the fossil fuel industry. This has not deterred the clean energy aspirations of individual states like Hawaii and California who both passed laws mandating independence from fossil fuels within two decades.
How do we fix this climate mess we're in?
There are a limited number of answers to this problem and solar power is clearly the most important but it's also the most immediately available. Carbon emissions are one of the biggest man-made problems of the modern day world. From global warming to environmental changes we don't yet fully understand, we are facing a plethora of problems due to carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, we must be extremely careful collectively and individually to do everything in our power to reduce carbon emissions and our own carbon footprints. The most immediate impact will be felt as we shift to solar energy. Solar is a renewable form of energy and does not cause damage to the environment in any way (except in the manufacturing process). Solar uses the power of the sun to generate electricity. This means no harmful gasses are emitted and there is no addition to the global warming conundrum.
Despite the massive global move toward solar power, electricity is still generated mostly by torching fossil fuels. This causes large amounts of smoke and carbon emissions which lead to global warming. Solar power is a much more benign energy source. Solar panels absorb the energy of the sun and convert it into electricity in a pure form, without any smoke emissions. It is a safe, simple and inexpensive way of generating electricity. Solar panels are also silent, which is an enormous advantage.
Solar energy does not need any other form of energy to generate electricity since it relies only on the rays of the sun. An enormous benefit of solar power systems is that the solar panels last for several decades. So once you install solar panels, very little maintenance is required. This has many advantages. The industries that manufacture the panels do not have to squander resources to make hundreds of these panels because one panel lasts for a very long time. At this stage, solar energy becomes practically free. Once the panels are installed and set up, the power generated is free and any extra electricity can be sold back to your utility company. This can eliminate your monthly electric bill completely and in some cases could be an extra source of monthly income.
According to the government, electricity generation contributes to more than 32 percent of the carbon emissions in the atmosphere. This is dangerously high and simply by switching to solar power, this amount can be quickly reduced. Industrial units also contribute to about 14% of the emission figures and businesses are continuing to install solar panels for their operations in an effort to become more environmentally responsible.
There has never been a better time to install a solar energy system!
