Climate change is in the news. Heat-related fatalities are occurring at an alarming rate all over the globe this summer. In Japan, for example, temperatures are higher than at any time since they began keeping meteorological records. In Europe, Canada, and the United States, the record heat is responsible for hundreds of deaths. Is this a harbinger of things to come? The earth is experiencing more water shortages and we will see hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones increasing in ferocity and frequency. The deserts will expand and the world will ultimately have difficulty growing enough food. 97 percent of climate scientists agree that global warming is real and caused by man’s activities.

Due to the climate crisis, thousands of scientists from many countries are working on the scientific aspects of global warming. They are proving this theory to be correct, and they are also advising on what action we must take in order to make substantive changes before it’s too late. This planet has gone through many natural climatic cycles during its long history. It is alarming to scientists that we are causing changes to happen at this disturbing rate, which is much faster than normal. Burning fossil fuels produces greenhouse gases at a life-threatening rate and causes global warming.
